The MP, who is also the CEO and founder of Keroche Breweries, explained his financial situation during a joint interview on Jeff Koinange Live.
How much is Tabitha Karanja’s property worth?
In the lively conversation, Jeff questioned Tabitha about her criticism of Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika, who accused her of mismanaging the county.
The conversation turned to the issue of corruption in politics, where Tabitha pointed out how some politicians become billionaires and even own helicopters after coming into power.
Jeff asked him if he also owns a helicopter like other rich politicians.
Tabitha calmly replied: “No, and I’m a billionaire.”
That statement left Jeff momentarily speechless. “Did you say you’re a billionaire? Wah wah wah, Google,” he wondered.
Kirinyaga Women’s Representative, Njeri Maina, who was also present at the interview, added flavor to the event by pretending to look at Google to prove its value.
Reports indicate that Keroche Breweries produces about 20% of beer in Kenya, making it the first major brewery owned by a non-international company.
In 2023, a local business magazine estimated the value of his assets to be more than 8.5 billion Kenyan shillings.

Did Keroche Breweries ever close?
In June 2022, the Kenya Revenue Authority closed down Keroche Breweries following a tax dispute.
It is reported that the closure affected more than 10,000 jobs including farmers and suppliers of raw materials to the company.
At that time, Tabitha accused the tax authorities of violating the previous agreement that had given the company 24 months to pay the tax debt of 322 million Kenyan shillings.
He claimed that the closure was done without prior notice and did not take into account the economic challenges that were affecting businesses after the COVID-19 pandemic.
