The two clubs are aiming to win the 2025/2026 title Arsenal with a five point advantage at the moment, after playing one more game.

They played Wolves last week, a game that had to be postponed due to their Carabao Cup final commitments in March. Manchester City, who they face in the final, were not announced due to their opponent, Crystal Palace, having European games.

In a new statement from the Premier League, the rescheduling of games is still not complete and the top two teams may be affected according to the draw for the Round of 16 of the Champions League scheduled for this Friday.

Arsenal and Manchester City finished in the top eight, meaning they were spared the added inconvenience of having to compete in the play-offs.

Which games may be affected?

However, the issue now is how to schedule their weekend games before and after playing the Round of 16 games. In the statement, the Premier League confirmed that West Ham vs. Manchester City on March 14 and Arsenal vs. Everton on March 15 may be affected.

This is because the Round of 16 games will take place on March 10, 11 with the return matches on the 17 and 18.

The issue here is that Arsenal cannot play on Sunday, March 15, and then play a Champions League game on Tuesday, March 17.

The Premier League has revealed that they have not received any confirmation from UEFA regarding the schedule. So they will have to wait for the draw, to see what day Arsenal will be told to play, before making a decision on whether to reschedule the game.

“Unfortunately, UEFA has not been able to give any guarantees about its schedule before the draw. Therefore, the Premier League is now faced with the possibility of rescheduling its schedule at shorter notice, to the inconvenience of fans and clubs,” said the statement of the Premier League.

For Manchester City, if they are scheduled to play on Wednesday, March 11, they cannot have their early game against West Ham on Saturday, March 14.

This weekend, Manchester City will be away against Leeds United while Arsenal play with Chelsea at home.

Who will win the Premier League?

Opta has predicted who will win the Premier League this season.

Arsenal have struggled in recent weeks, winning just two of their last seven Premier League games, but they responded in style in the North London derby.

Manchester City are now five points back, but have played one game less than Arsenal.
