Super Metro SACCO has been struck by tragedy again after a tragic incident where a 25-year-old passenger was reportedly pushed out of one of its buses and died shortly after.

Joseph Mureithi is said to have boarded a bus owned by a popular SACCO in Kitengela on Tuesday, February 24, at about 5pm.
How did Joseph Mureithi die?
Mureithi had finished his work at a gas station near Athi River when he boarded the car on his way to Nairobi.
Witnesses said the bus was overcrowded, with some crew members hanging from the door.
Mureithi managed to find a place inside the bus which was full of people but it is said that he was pushed out by the staff shortly after leaving the stage.

According to the report Citizen TVthe passenger fell on his head and was hit by the same bus.
Juma Otieno, an eyewitness, said the altercation started shortly after the bus left the platform, and the victim was later forcefully chased away.
He rushed to the scene and found Mureithi lying on the pavement with a serious head injury.
… “I thought he had fallen from the bus, but when I got there I released him with a serious head injury. What did Joseph Mureithi’s family say?
Patrick Muthomi, a family member, questioned the intention of pushing their relatives out of the car, saying there is no justification for such behaviour.
“If the problem is the fare, let the person know that it is not enough to take them where they want to go and leave them there instead of pushing them out of the moving vehicle,” said Muthomi.
The 25-year-old man was just employed at a gas station and was helping the family pay his sick mother’s hospital bill.
Super Metro said it is still gathering information before taking the necessary steps.
Police have arrested two bus workers for questioning.
It is reported that the bus tried to flee the scene, but the car DCI A Subaru near the scene responded quickly, leading to the arrest of the two workers. members.

This is not the first time a Super Metro bus has been involved in such a tragic incident. In March 2025, a bus operator working in one of SACCO’s buses was accused of pushing a passenger from three which was traveling due to the KSh 30 fare dispute.
It is said that Gibert Thuo died on the spot after being pushed out by the workers and hitting the same car.
The attendant managed to escape, but the bus driver, David Nderitu Njambi, was arrested.
