Pastor Daniel Gula and Kathleen Mary Gula have been married for 54 unique years, going through good times and hard times.
How old is Kathleen Mary?
Through it all, they chose to remain faithful to their marriage, supporting each other in every season of life.
Kathleen, an 85-year-old from England, explained how she came to Africa, in particular Nigeriawhere he met the love of his life.
“We met while working in Goza. I was a nurse with the Sudan United Mission in the hospital there, and my husband was serving as an evangelist at the time. Later we were blessed with three children.
When God called me to be a Christian and I asked him what he wanted me to do, he said to be a missionary. I was surprised because I was very shy. He told me if I agreed, he would change me,” he said.
Kathleen talks about working in Nigeria
Kathleen traveled to Nigeria, one of the hottest places she had ever been to, but the weather did not bother her, something she believed was a sign that she was truly called to missionary work.
The English nurse worked in Nigeria for six years, and by the end of her stay in Africa, she had already met Gula.
“My husband’s background is completely different from mine, and some people objected to our relationship, not because of race, but because of the difference in education. He had never gone to school, but that did not bother me. I returned to England for a short time and then I came back, and we got married. Many thought it would not be possible because of our differences,” he said.

Gula shared that he was rejected by several women before marrying Kathleen, who is a year younger than him, because he decided to become a Christian.
He even once paid a dowry to a woman, but her family refused to allow the marriage because of his new faith.
“We love the Lord. We pray together, we work together and we cooperate in everything. We believe this is what God wanted for us. I appreciate my husband because he cares for me a lot. 30 years ago, I used malaria medicine that affected my physical balance. He held my hand when I went up and down the stairs and never complained. That is true love. We always support each other. He has always been with me,” Kathleen said.
A woman from Kenya is proud of her Filipino husband
In another case, a Kenyan woman married to a Filipino man happily danced and showed off her beautiful family in a video TikTok.
She proudly introduced her husband who was enjoying being with his wife.
One by one, they showed off their children in matching outfits, leaving people in awe of their bond with their adorable family.
