Makueni: A police officer was struck like lightning after being caught cultivating cannabis in the station

A police officer serving at the Ngoni Police Station in Makueni county ran away after he was allegedly found cultivating cannabis inside camp 9 of police houses.

The incident, which has sparked outrage and disbelief online, was captured on video that went viral showing the officer struggling with fellow officers before breaking free and running into a nearby bush.

Screams are heard from behind as the officers follow him and call for help, but he manages to disappear.

According to a police report seen by TUKO.co.ke, the officer was identified as Police Constable Ramadhan Mwiti Nassir, service number 102959.

The report shows that the incident happened on Saturday, February 22, at the Ngoni Police Station under the Mbumbuni Police Station in Mbooni East Sub-County.

The case was officially recorded under OB 05/22/2/2026 at 1203HRS as part of the crackdown on illegal drugs in the area.

According to the police report, the action was taken following information from the Chief Police Officer (OCPD) Ngoni that the officer allegedly planted marijuana in front of his house within the police lines.

How did the Makueni police officer escape arrest?

Following up on the report, a team comprising the Officer Commanding Center (OCS) in Mbumbu and officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) visited the scene.

What happened next surprised even experienced officers who were well equipped and ready to take action against their colleague who had brought the army into disrepute.

As the team prepared to uproot the suspected marijuana plants, the officer reportedly removed them himself and wrapped them in a cloth.

An attempt was made to stop him, but he escaped while still holding the recovered drugs as he tried to run.

He then ran towards a nearby bush, causing him to be chased by his companions and despite being chased, he was able to escape capture.

While escaping, the officer reportedly dropped one stem of the plant, which was taken and kept as a specimen.

The police confirmed that the officer has not been arrested since the incident, indicating that the case is still pending under investigation, with the Mbumbuni Station Police taking over the investigation.
