Sifuna has vowed not to stand for re-election Rutodespite his Orange Democratic Movement party having a partnership agreement with Ruto’s government.

He is currently leading the ODM wing which strongly criticizes the government.

According to Mumbis, the senator’s strong stance against Ruto is due to his failure to find a place in the national government.

The MP claimed that Sifuna wanted to join Ruto’s government as Minister of Home Affairs during the Cabinet reshuffle that took place at the height of protest of Gen Z in 2024.

However, he was advised to postpone the quest, according to the MP.

It was then, according to the Mumbis, that Sifuna began to develop hatred against Ruto and his administration.

“Sifuna is a young man and sometimes as young people we want to speed things up and that is where we go wrong. He wanted the position of Minister of Internal Security during the formation of an integrated government that saw some of the leading members of ODM join the government. But Raila Odinga asked him to wait a bit. So all this anger and pain is because he missed that opportunity,” said Wamubis.
