The team also includes Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, Member of Parliament for Embakasi East Grandfather Owinotogether with parliamentarians and other prominent leaders.
Preparations are already underway, with the team’s promotional vehicle, decorated in the blue and white colors of Linda Mwananchi, arriving in the area.
However, tensions have increased after the vehicle was pelted with stones in Riat area, Poisonous. Sifuna blamed alleged government-sponsored thugs for the attack.

The attack has increased the fear that the Kakamega meeting may be affected by violence as happened in the Kitengela meeting which ended in chaos.
What warning did Orengo give?
In a press conference on Friday, February 20, Orengo dismissed the idea that the meeting could be blocked.
He compared the situation to the previous meeting in Kitengela, which continued despite efforts to disrupt it, stressing that the Kakamega meeting will also continue unhindered.
“This thing is big, it is like a tsunami, it is unstoppable. There is no power in the world that will stand in our way. Therefore, despite their plots, this meeting will take place. As they tried in Kitengela but the meeting continued, so will it be. These meetings will continue to be big, and those in power should prepare for this great movement of the people, for the people and for the people,” said Orengo.
Orengo also confirmed that the Kakamega meeting is just the beginning, hinting that there will be a series of other meetings across the country.
The governor’s statement has signaled a stronger strategy for the mobilization of Linda Mwananchi’s team in Western Kenya, which for a long time has been seen as the stronghold of the ODM party.
Orengo’s position on ODM’s internal direction
In addition to the meetings, Orengo has been openly expressing his concern about the internal direction of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), especially following the decision to allow Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga to enter into pre-election coalition talks with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) towards the 2027 General Election.
Orengo has repeatedly stressed that any formal agreement with the UDA could undermine the national direction of ODM, a vision which he says was founded by Raila Odinga.
He also accused some members within ODM of undermining the party’s 10-point agenda, prepared through the report of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO).
The situation culminated in March 2025 with the signing of an agreement (MoU) between Raila and the President William Ruto.
“We are not satisfied with what is going on within the ODM party, especially the surrender of the party to forces that are against the interests of ODM and its members. We want the party to remain united and strong. We will continue to encourage members to protect the party. ODM has well-established values and foundations in its constitution, but the most urgent is the 10-point agenda, which some people within ODM want to throw in the dustbin of history,” said Orengo.

Orengo explained that the 10-point agenda is not related to coalitions or an integrated government, but aims for the prosperity of Kenya and Kenyans, and is part of the legacy left by Raila Odinga.
