The Government has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive stakeholder engagement as it advances ongoing health reforms aimed at strengthening the national health system and expanding access to essential services.
According to the Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Ouma Oluga, the collaboration will prioritise cost containment, enhanced data sharing, efficient claims management, and strong safeguards against fraud and abuse.
Dr Oluga spoke on Wednesday while chairing a high-level meeting with private health insurers to establish a structured engagement platform between the Government and the insurance sector.
“Collaboration between the Government and private health insurers is vital to harness synergies that support seamless healthcare access for all Kenyans. This partnership seeks to promote well-being, prevent avoidable conditions, and tackle key cost drivers in healthcare—critical steps towards realising Universal Health Coverage (UHC)”, he said.
He emphasised that the initiative will strengthen dialogue, align policy priorities, enhance coordination, and encourage innovative approaches to healthcare delivery.
The PS underscored that the reforms are key to building trust, transparency and efficiency across the health financing ecosystem.
“By supporting a resilient, equitable and sustainable health sector, the partnership moves Kenya closer to achieving Universal Health Coverage for all”, he added.
