Farouk said that Uhuru was using the opposition to weaken his successor. According to him, the former president is not happy with the progress allegedly achieved by Ruto.

“Uhuru gives money to finance illegal politics. Why does he finance politics that divides Kenyans. He is the one who runs these political meetings that move from one place to another. He uses the money he took from Kenya, and I want to warn him that the government will freeze his funds and will not be able to do anything. We will not tolerate politics of division in this country,” said Farouk.

Is Uhuru Kenyatta helping the opposition?

Uhuru has been trying to revive the Jubilee Party, which he wants to use the party to continue to run for president Fred Matiang’i.

The party is collaborating with other opposition players, all preparing to remove Ruto from power in 2027.

Farouk’s work happened a few days after an element within ODM accused Uhuru of funding the rebels created by Sifuna, who have promised to oppose any move by ODM to defend Ruto in 2027.

The accusers of the former president come mainly from the Oburu Oginga branch within the Orange party.

They include, among others, the national chairman of the party Gladys Wangaparty leaders of the position of vice Abdulswamad Nassir and Simba Arati, as well as the minority leader in the National Assembly, Junet Mohamed.

On the opposition side, the rebels are led by the embattled secretary general, Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, and Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino.

Why have ODM politicians accused Uhuru Kenyatta?

After the threat of removal of Sifuna from his position as general secretary, his allies, led by Orengo, claimed that William Ruto was related to the party’s affairs and planned a change before 2027 for his political benefit.

The rebel element claimed that Oburu and his associates were acting as agents of the president, taking important decisions on instructions from the National Executive Council.

In response, the branch close to Ruto argued that Sifuna and his associates were working for Uhuru Kenyatta.

Junet Mohamed added that Uhuru was trying to steer the party away from cooperating with the current government, which explains the confusion among the rebels who have promised not to support Ruto’s renewal campaign.

He insisted that ODM has been in chaos since the death of Raila Odinga, and he insisted that the real problem is Uhuru Kenyatta, not Ruto or the government. According to Junet, Uhuru is the one who weakens the party.

Will ODM accept Uhuru Kenyatta’s efforts?

The MP for Suna East promised that the party will continue to cooperate with the current president in his new campaign in 2027.

He insisted that they will ignore Uhuru’s pleas, noting that the former president did not help Raila Odinga win in 2022 when he had a chance.

Junet urged Uhuru to leave ODM alone and focus on his Jubilee Party, accusing him of funding rebels within ODM and promising to cooperate with him in any effort to remove Ruto from power.

Gladys Wanga emphasized Junet’s views, also criticizing the former president.

He said that Uhuru’s goal is to push ODM to leave Ruto and instead join the Opposition, also showing that he wanted ODM to cooperate with the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
