Ayomo, also known as Kawaya, ran a car garage in Kitengela with his family, explaining that he was not attending the meeting but left work for a while when the violence broke out.
His grieving wife, 24-year-old Khadija Riamey, recounted the heartbreaking moment she first learned of her husband’s death.
Addressing the media after being joined by relatives and friends at the City Mortuary on Monday morning, February 16, Khadija said she learned of his death later.
Khadija disclosed that one of Ayomo’s friends called her in the evening to inform her of his death, adding that they were trying to find where the body had been taken.
The police reportedly refused to take the body during the chaos, explaining that they were waiting for the local youth to calm down.
He explained that after a long search, they found the body of the deceased at Nairobi Funeral Home, which was the City Mortuary, and revealed that he was shot in the eye.
“I was at home around 6pm when I got a call from my husband’s friend, who told me that my husband was shot while crossing the road from work. When I asked for more details, he said he had not seen him yet but was going to check. So today, we had to first search in the morgue near Kitengela, but we did not find him, so we had to go to the morgue, after he was shot by the police in Motu. The shot came from behind,” Khadija said, her voice cracking.
An autopsy on Vincent Ayomo is scheduled for Tuesday, February 17, to determine the exact cause of death.
What feelings did the shooting of Ayomo evoke?
Senator Sifuna condemned the killing, describing it as part of a series of illegal cases under the current administration.
Sending his condolences, the MP said that the shooting is another reminder of why he opposes the administration of Kenya First.
“This is another senseless and arbitrary killing by the Ruto administration. We send our condolences to Vincent’s family and demand justice and accountability. This is what we are fighting against,” he said.

Fredrick Onjiro, a Vocal Africa activist, questioned the circumstances that led to Ayomo’s death, saying that nothing justified his shooting.
“And even if he did go to that meeting, what wrong did he do to make the police shoot him in the eye?” Onjiro blinked.
Kitengela residents expressed shock and anger, with many condemning the way the police handled the meeting.
The Police Performance Investigation Authority (IPOA) has confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
