How was Edwin Sifuna received in Kitengela?
On Sunday, February 15, a group opposed to the leadership of ODM leader Oburu Oginga turned out in large numbers in Kitengela for their much publicized Linda Mwananchi rally.
The team, which includes the Governor James OrengoMember of Parliament Babu Owino, Caleb Amisi, and Vihiga senator Godfrey Osotsi, was warmly welcomed by thousands of supporters who showed up for the meeting.
At one point the angry crowd could be heard chanting ‘wantam’ slogans for the President William Ruto.
In a video seen by TUKO.co.ke, the crowd also appeared in ‘Sifuna Usilale’, a clear sign that they support the controversial ODM secretary general.
In a post, Sifuna thanked Kitengela residents for coming out in large numbers despite harassment and threats from the police.
“Thank you Kitengela. Despite all the harassment, threats and violence from this morning, you showed up. First, they destroyed our stage and audio equipment in the morning, government thugs have now thrown tear gas at the peace meeting and ended it suddenly. We will not accept it,” Sifuna said.
Speaking today at ACK St Peter’s Orkeju in Kisaju, Kajiado County, before heading to the meeting, Sifuna said the support shows that even if he is silenced, millions are ready to protect the country.
The Nairobi-based senator thanked Kenyans for their support, saying their message of “You are the Sifuna” gives him strength and reassurance.
“I want to thank Kenyans for saying ‘You are Sifuna’. You give me comfort that even if they finish me today, there will be 15 million Sifuna to protect Kenyans,” Sifuna said.
Addressing the meeting, Orengo announced that Ruto will be a one-term president, adding that Oburu should return the money allegedly received from the president.

“People who are in Mombasa should return Ruto’s money. The matter is here in Kitengela,” Orengo announced.
Who planned to disrupt Edwin Sifuna’s meeting?
Earlier, the defense senator from Nairobi claimed that he planned to disrupt Linda Mwananchi’s visit to be held in Kitengela, Kajiado county.
Sifuna claimed that ODM officials have planned to target and disrupt their meeting following the opposition of the suspected ODM-UDA coalition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Despite facing threats, the team remains strong, believing in God’s protection. The politician claimed that his group will continue to fight the allegations of oppression, corruption, and extrajudicial killings under the administration of President Ruto.
The meeting came a few days after Sifuna was removed as ODM secretary general over allegations of misconduct.
