In what appears to be an effort to defuse tensions in the party, the ODM member urged Winnie to reconsider her allegiance to the ousted party secretary general and the Nairobi senator. Edwin Sifuna.
What is Kajwang’s request to Winnie Odinga?
The request comes just a few days after Winnie appeared with Sifuna in a press conference, where Sifuna defended her case and vowed to fight for her place in the Orange party.

Sifuna, who has openly rejected the President’s ambition William Ruto for re-election and opposing the party to enter into a coalition agreement with the ruling UDA party, he has become the center of increasing division within the party.
In a heartfelt appeal, Ruaraka Member of Parliament TJ Kajwang’ urged the East African National Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament to support his uncle Oburu, claiming that he is protecting Raila’s legacy.
The MP accused the unnamed group of lying to young Odinga, adding that they would protect him.
“In my humility, I want to ask you, Winnie Odinga, please, you are our child and we will protect you, dear. We will protect you. Please wake up. Wake up. Wake up. Wake up! Let something good, the legacy that Raila has given you, not be spoiled in your hands because a few elders are lying to you. Please don’t do that. We are here to protect you. We will go with you to other places. We will go. But please, be a girl. Be a strong woman and come out of it,” TJ Kajwang’ said.
Is Odinga family unity important for ODM?
The leaders did not stop at Winnie, turning their attention to the wider Jaramogi political dynasty which is at the center of the ODM controversy.
Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi called on the entire Odinga family to unite with Oburu, warning that internal divisions were undermining the party’s position.
Elachi warned the political family against sending mixed signals in a period that has tested the Orange party in its 20 years of existence.
“Odinga family don’t confuse us. Don’t confuse us. Don’t treat us like this, Hey! Hey! Don’t treat us like this. It’s wrong. That honor was given to Raila,” Elachi said.

The ongoing tension has divided ODM into two main factions which includes the camp of Sifuna, the governor of Siaya James Orengo and Vihiga senator Godfrey Osotsi, known as Linda Mwananchi, who is expected to meet Kitengela,
On the other hand, the Oburu group, called Linda Ground, will hold its meeting at the Tononoka grounds in Mombasa.
