The head of state, while addressing a meeting in Kehancha about reducing the cost of agricultural inputs, had to stop for a while after something was thrown towards the stage, appearing shocked as security officers rushed inside to protect the area.
The shocking incident, captured on video, interrupted his speech as officials intervened. After that, police arrested three suspects linked to what they called “reckless and deplorable behavior.”
Authorities suspected that the incident may have been politically motivated and possibly planned before the President’s visit.
According to an official, the suspects are believed to be related to two opposition MPs from the area.
He added that the investigation is still ongoing and more arrests are expected.
Despite the arrest, Ruto ordered that those arrested at the scene be released.
