President William Ruto he was momentarily frightened when a man suddenly climbed on stage and ran towards him while he was addressing the residents of Wajir during the NYOTA fundraising event on Thursday, February 12.

Ruto was on stage explaining government policies to thousands of locals who had gathered in the area when a middle-aged man jumped out of the crowd and jumped at him, killing his bodyguards.
Suddenly, the man was caught by a security officer and taken off the stage. The terrible event that happened in a few seconds and left the president in great surprise.
He asked his guards to leave the intruder, promising to see him later, but where, things had taken a different turn.

“Eeeh..Pillar, pillar, pillar. Leave him. Let him rest, I will see him. Let him stay there,” the president answered after hearing a noise behind him.
Has Ruto’s security ever been breached before?
This is not the first time Ruto has been interrupted by citizens while addressing the public.
On Friday, February 6, a similar incident occurred in Mombasa, where a man came out of the crowd and ran towards the president, forcing security officers to quickly respond and stop him.
The security breach occurred at the Jomo Kenyatta Exhibition Ground, where Ruto was leading the distribution of NYOTA funds to more than 5000 youth from the coastal counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Tana River and Taita Taveta.
In May 2025, a man threw a shoe that nearly hit the president in the face during a public address in Migori County.
The president quickly dodged the shoe and called for calm.
Three people were arrested but later released after a police investigation found that it was not a deliberate attack on the head of state.
