This follows an investigation by TV 47 which showed that a man who claimed to be cured of HIV by the controversial preacher presented fake medical records.
The man, identified as Peter Oyan, claimed that he was diagnosed with HIV in 2012 at a hospital in Rumuruti, Laikipia County, and was taking antiretroviral drugs (ARVs).
Did the Laikipia man say he was healed by Prophet Owuor?
Oyan explained that he received spiritual healing during a prayer meeting conducted by Prophet Owuor in 2013 in the County of Nakuru.
“I felt stronger and better, so I went back to Rumuruti Hospital to the same doctor who examined me before. The tests confirmed that I had gotten rid of the disease, and I was HIV-free again following the healing of the prophet,” said Oyan.
He went on to explain that he visited several other medical centers for tests, and all of them confirmed the same results, which eliminated the need for him to continue using ARVs.
Did Prophet Owuor heal a man with HIV?
However, in the investigation, a health worker at Unison Medical Centre, Rumuruti claimed that Oyan’s medical records were fake.
“According to the patient register, this is not one of us. The card number is here, but it is registered in the name of another patient, meaning that his medical card was forged,” said the hospital employee.
The special number of the card presented by Oyan was present in the hospital records, but it was registered in the name of a female patient from Laikipia.
According to the report, the old man was never sick in the center nor was he diagnosed with HIV there.

“If he was a patient transported from another center, we would still have his records, but we don’t, which means he was never transferred to us. The CCC number has the code of our hospital, but the next number belongs to another patient. Patients cannot share that number,” he added.
In addition, the hospital distanced itself from the claim that the prophet appeared to heal their patient, insisting that HIV is a complex virus that requires scientifically proven ARVs for proper management, and that there are no shortcuts.
The second hospital, where Oyan claimed to be tested, also denied his claims. The hospital said that his medical records did not have their official logo, which is on all original copies of their records.
Similarly, the third hospital where Oyan claimed to be treated found that his information was missing from their system. Records showed that the documents he submitted may have been forged.
TV 47 claimed that Oyan never had HIV and was not cured by any intervention of Prophet Owuor.

Kenyans raise feelings about the healing claims of Prophet Owuor
The controversy surrounding Prophet Owuor’s healing claims has brought a wave of comments on social media, some questioning the validity of the prophet’s actions and others defending belief in miracles.
Teenex MD: “It is not a problem for a person to be healed through prayer. Other people can be healed because of their faith in God. Healing matters are complex, but what causes controversy is the claims he makes, comparing himself to the Bible… two witnesses, John, Elijah, Moses, etc., being the only prophet, talking to God through WhatsApp, a bribe of 20k, forged records.”
Okinyo Nya Pam: “Miracles do happen! Jesus is alive. His blood still speaks of healing because with the blows he received we were healed. It is finished; it is up to us to believe! AMEN!”
Derick M Luvega: “Is he God? Or should I lower the question: He is a doctor, and since when did doctors start treating and curing HIV?”
Peter Kuluo: “MI don’t make people’s lives a game. Preach the True Gospel, not that of Shakahola.”
