Bomet: Clinic Officer Arrested for Sexually Abusing Pregnant Mother During Examination

Police in the county of Bomet they have arrested a clinical officer who is accused of sexually abusing a pregnant woman during a medical examination.

The officer, Eric Langat, who works at the Chemaner Health Center in Bomet, allegedly committed the crime while checking on the victim in one of the hospital’s rooms.

Bomet East Sub-county police commander Michael Singa confirmed the incident on Monday, February 9.

How did the patients recognize the abuse of the Bomet woman?

According to the report Citizen TV, staff and patients were drawn to the scene after hearing screams from the attending room.

The police report claimed that the first responders found the suspect in a confused state before fleeing the scene while onlookers gathered to determine the source of the screams.

The victim was transferred to Longisa County Referral Hospital for immediate medical examination and counselling.

Security officers conducted a search and succeeded in arresting Langat in his hideout. It is said that the suspect was involved in two similar cases which were not reported due to his relationship with senior doctors.

At the same time, the incident was reported at the Chemaner Police Station, and the sub-county police commander said that the suspect will be brought to court after the investigation is completed.

Elsewhere, members of the Kenya Doctors, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Nyanza branch stopped their work after their colleague was allegedly beaten by Siaya county officials.

The members said that they could not continue to provide services when one of them was injured in a controversial attack.
