In the emotional video, the man is seen screaming at the top of his lungs, accompanied by his young daughters, who were wearing school uniforms, and other relatives.
The family had a heated argument with the auction company about the foreclosure and auction of the trucks.
According to Rufus Kiretai, one of the trucks had an accident in 2018; his driver was charged with causing death by dangerous driving but was later acquitted. He decided to settle the matter out of court with the family of the deceased.

Under the agreement, Kiretai was required to pay compensation of approximately KSh 2.5 million, with 30% set aside for legal fees.
He spoke with the complainant, and they agreed KSh 1 million; he paid as ordered, but the auctioneer allegedly sold his two trucks illegally!
“The case was completed without my knowledge, and when I was given the order, I was asked to pay KSh 2.5 million. I spoke with the family, and we agreed that I should give them KSh 1 million, and their lawyer should get KSh 765,000,” said the businessman.

How Kiretai Trucks were taken and auctioned
Kiretai owned two cars, registration numbers KDB 265U and KCU 122U, which were allegedly auctioned without due process, causing him great financial and emotional stress.
Kiretai further claimed that during the repayment period, one auctioneer repossessed his vehicles and demanded over KSh 500,000 for repossessing, storage, and related costs. The two trucks are supposed to be auctioned before paying that amount.
He is now asking the auction company to return the cars, saying he is ready and willing to pay all the necessary fees.
The owner of the auction company, Eliud Wambu, confirmed that the cars have been auctioned and there is an ongoing court case.

How was the Kiretai family affected?
Crying in pain, Kiretai said that the loss of the two trucks has deprived him of a source of income, and there is an ongoing legal dispute over how the vehicles were repossessed and auctioned.
“My children are at home and I have been asking the teachers to keep them in school,” he said.
He said the situation forced his children to leave school due to non-payment of fees and that his family had also been given a notice to leave their residence due to arrears of house rent.
By then, a large crowd had gathered outside the auction offices to witness the incident and sympathize with the family, as did netizens who watched the video on social media.

When I got my first job in the banking industry, I joined as a credit officer – monitoring and early debt recovery. My boss, who was a Christian, used to tell me… Wanjau’s loan is stupid. I hated every return moment….once we visited the customer, the situation we found, we bought milk and bread for them first….we had nothing to return. At one point, we went to the village of Ithanga, Gatanga lower… what we saw… and today I don’t know how to heal. Anyway, those who ask me why I left the prestigious bank job, now you know.”
