ODM Crisis Gets Worse John Mbadi Announces Plans To Fire Edwin Sifuna

National Treasury Minister John Mbadi has revealed plans to sack the ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna from that party.

Mbadi made the remarks on Sunday, February 8, when he was speaking during a service at the Riat Ebenezer PEFA church in Migori county.

The minister was responding to the ongoing rift in the ODM party after some leaders led by Sifuna launched the Linda Mwananchi Tour unlike the Linda Ground meetings led by the party’s leader, Oburu Oginga.

Why should Edwin Sifuna be removed from ODM?

Mbadi, angered by Sifuna’s meetings there kiss On Sunday, February 8, he claimed that Sifuna is now in conflict and is busy spreading the agenda of the opposition.

“Sifuna will not stay in ODM because he already has a conflict. Now he is selling someone else’s agenda. Why are you pretending? You cannot keep him in the party. He is gone! Let him go,” he demanded.

He said that ODM must remain united and told Sifuna to withdraw from the party while some leaders supported him.

Mbadi put Sifuna in that position despite opposition from several Western leaders.

“No one will break ODM. One mistake you are making is thinking that ODM will remain intact after the death of former prime minister Raila Odinga. Some people have to leave. If you want the party to remain intact, remove the bad SG. There are too many people who can fill the position of ODM SG. People with different agendas will confuse us. Before the elections, we will have three ODMs,” he said.

The politician claimed that the party appointed trustees to protect all his credentials and dared Sifuna to destroy his certificate that he keeps.

Will John Mbadi run for president?

Mbadi narrated how he contributed to the sacking of the former SG of ODM Ababu Namwamba when he allegedly started ‘behaving like Sifuna.’

“I assured the disciplinary committee against him, I made sure he leaves,” he said.

Furthermore, Mbadi reiterated that ODM will support him Ruto in the 2027 General Election and beyond, while defining his political future after Ruto’s administration.

“They say Raila didn’t leave us wide, who sent Mbadi to the program? Did they question him? Even if Raila didn’t say that, where would they want us to go? We will work with Ruto. In 2032, some of us are ready to take over the presidency. I don’t want to run in 2027, but in 2032,” he said I am ready.

Is Sifuna afraid of being expelled from ODM?

At the same time, the general secretary said he has no intention of leaving ODM despite disagreements with senior officials regarding the upcoming elections.

He said he would accept being removed from that powerful position, adding that several young people could make a better SG than he and his predecessors.

Furthermore, Sifuna noted that it is not his birthright to be SG and that holding office is not a requirement to be a member of the party.
