The bodies of three Kenyan citizens who died were found dumped in the city of Lyman in the Donetsk region.

The Defense Intelligence Service of Ukraine identified the three as Ombwori Denis Bagaka, born January 30, 1987, and Wahome Simon Gititu, born May 21, 1991.

They were found in the same area where another Kenyan, Clinton Nyapara Mogesa, was killed a week ago.

How did Kenyans find themselves in Ukraine?

Bagaka and Mogesa reportedly arrived in Russia and entered the Yaroslavl recruitment center in September 2025, with Gatitu joining them a month later.

According to Ukrainian spies, the three Kenyans were persuaded to join the Russian army by an agent identified as Salizhan Uulu Almamet.

It was Almamet who negotiated and signed the agreements of Bagaka, Mogesa, and Gatitu. The contracts were written in Russian, making it difficult for the three to understand what was on the paper.

The Russian agent is also reported to have direct control over the bank accounts of three Kenyan employees.

Recruited Kenyan nationals were transported from Yaroslavl to the Pogonovo training area near Voronezh, specifically for military unit number 11097, according to Ukraine’s Intelligence Service.

The Pogonovo training ground is where the Russian military uses foreign recruits to launch its offensive in Ukraine.

Is Russia hiring foreign soldiers?

According to reports, President Vladimir Putin’s military works with mercenaries to recruit foreigners, prisoners, drug addicts, and arrested fugitives and round them up in training camps.

The training lasts four weeks, and recruits are sent on a one-way combat mission in Ukraine. In the case of Bagaka, Gititu, and Mogesa, they were sent to Donbas to attack the city of Lyman, where for luck bad they were killed and abandoned by their comrades from Russia.

He was trained for three weeks and sent to work in Ukraine, where he was bombed and attacked by Russian soldiers. Njoki, who is now suffering from internal and external injuries, including spinal problems, joined the drone operator but was forced into the front line where he was hit by a bomb.
