Abungana died on Wednesday, February 4, while receiving treatment at the Kakamega County Referral and Training Hospital.
The promising footballer tragically died following a family dispute with his younger brother, who allegedly assaulted him, leaving him with severe injuries.

On his Facebook page, Abungana’s wife shared her great pain, asking God why she had to lose the love of her life so quickly.

In a separate post, the sad woman shared a screenshot of one of her recent conversations with Abungana.
He explained how he was advising him and praying for the day when they would live in peace despite the challenges they faced.
In the conversation, the football player asked him to tell him something before retiring to sleep. He encouraged him to continue working hard and focus on his football career, adding that the future would be bright for both of them.
“All I can say is that I love you and I pray for you every day, so that things can go well for you. I want us to live a peaceful life, so please forget about the things that happen at home. Leave all that at the gate when you are on the field playing. Don’t worry about things that you cannot change,” one of his messages read.
In his reply, the footballer thanked his girlfriend, expressing his faith in her before wishing her a good night.

It is said that the two had an argument after Abungana cut the electric wire of his younger brother’s house and caused an argument between them.
