Rain Warning In 4 Regions, Sunny Conditions And Dry Skies In Many Places For The Next 7 Days

Nairobi – The Kenya Meteorological Department has released its weekly weather forecast covering the next seven days.

In a message to Kenyans, the meteorologist predicted that most parts of the country will be sunny and dry between February 3 and 9.

What areas will receive rain this week?

During that period, several counties in four regions, such as those in the Lake Victoria Basin, are expected to receive rain.

“Most parts of the country are expected to be sunny and dry. However, rain may occur in a few places in the Eastern Highlands and Western Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and Rift Valley,” Kenya Met said.

Average daytime temperatures above 30°C are expected in several parts of the country, including the Coast and North-East and North-West of Kenya.

A meteorologist said the average night temperature is expected to be below 10°C in some areas of the Highlands in the east of the Rift Valley, the Central Rift Valley and near Mount Kilimanjaro.

Detailed regional rainfall forecast for the next 7 days

1. Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and Rift Valley

In the counties of Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, PoisonousHoma Bay, Migori and Narok, sunny spells are expected in the morning during the first half of the forecast period, giving way to rain in a few places during the second half.

Kenya Met predicted that afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur in a few places.

2 North-West Kenya

The meteorologist predicted that Turkana and Samburu counties will experience periods of sunshine during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.

3 Nyandarua East of the Rift Valley

Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Nairobi counties will experience sunny spells during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.

However, afternoon and night showers are likely to occur at a few places during the second half of the forecast period.

4. North-Eastern Kenya

Kenya Met predicted that Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties will have sunny spells during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.

5 Lowlands in the southeast

For the next seven days, the counties of Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta as well as the interior parts of Tana River County, will experience periods of sunshine during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night. 6 Beach

The meteorologist predicted that the counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale as well as the coastal parts of Tana River county will also have periods of sunshine during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.

How does the heat wave in Kenya happen?

In related news, the Kenya Meteorological Department issued another clarification on the heat wave weather in the country.

In a statement on Sunday, February 1, Kenya Met said the heat wave is not only a matter of rising temperatures but also a public health concern.

According to Kenya Met, a heat wave is defined as a period of three or more consecutive days of extreme heat, and occurs when the daily maximum temperature exceeds the set thresholds.
