Nairobi – The Kenya Meteorological Department has released its five-day weather forecast from January 30 to February 3.

In a statement on its website on Thursday, January 29, Kenya Met said several parts of the country will experience drought conditions for the next five days.
Which counties will receive rain for the next 7 days?
However, the meteorologist said 20 counties in the western highlands of the Rift Valley and Lake Victoria Basin will receive moderate rainfall.
“Most parts of the country are expected to be sunny and dry. However, light to moderate rain may occur in a few places in the Western Highlands of the Rift Valley and Lake Victoria Basin,” Kenya Met said.
A meteorologist predicted that rain may fall in a few places in the afternoon and night in Siaya counties, PoisonousHomabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 32°C, while the minimum temperature will drop to 08°C, especially in the early morning.
The northwest region, which includes Turkana and Samburu counties, will experience sunny spells with the highest temperature expected to be 38°C.
Which counties will witness the hot sun?
Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi, will have sunny and dry conditions in the morning and afternoon, with the highest temperature expected to be 31°C.
The meteorologist said the night temperature is expected to remain partly cloudy, providing relief from the heat of the day.

Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties will also experience sunny spells with the maximum temperature expected to be 37°C and the minimum temperature 17°C.
The southeastern highlands counties of Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta, as well as the interior parts of Tana River county will have sunny spells in the morning and afternoon.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 35°C, while the minimum temperature will drop to 14°C, especially in the early morning.
In the coastal area, the counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale, as well as the coastal parts of Tana River County, will have sunny periods, with the maximum temperature expected to be 33°C.

What is the weather outlook for the months of March to May in Kenya?
In related news, the IGAD Center for Climate Prediction and Application (ICPAC) has released a weather outlook for the long rains of March to May (MAM) 2026, placing Kenya among countries that experience more than normal rainfall during the period.
Released on January 27 after the 72nd Horn of Africa Climate Outlook Forum (GHACOF 72) in Nairobi, ICPAC’s outlook indicated a 45% chance of above average rainfall in central Kenya, Rwanda, parts of Uganda, TanzaniaEthiopia, Burundi, South Sudan, Djibouti, and northern Somalia.
Near normal rainfall is 40% likely in northeastern and southwestern Kenya, coastal Tanzania, most of Somalia, western and eastern South Sudan, and isolated areas of Ethiopia and Uganda.
