Nairobi – Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has strongly objected to the reports that circulated about a meeting involving all the leaders of Mount Kenya.

Reports had surfaced on social media claiming Uhuru ordered the former vice president Rigathi Gachagua to prepare his team for a joint meeting to discuss the political direction of the community ahead of the 2027 elections.
“I am calling a meeting with all the leaders of Mount Kenya on February 14 so that we can return to our journey as a community. I am instructing Rigathi Gachagua to organize his team as well so that we can unite. We are a big community and we cannot allow anyone to ignore us,” the post read.
What did Uhuru Kenyatta say about the message that went viral?
However, in a statement on Thursday, January 29, Uhuru expressed his concern about what he called the deliberate dissemination of false information attributed to him.
The retired president who was the leader of the government reminded Kenyans that any communication from his office will be given through confirmed channels and through Jubilee Party’s social media channels.
“The Office of the President of the Fourth Term, Uhuru Kenyatta, has seen with concern the deliberate dissemination of false and misleading content on social media. These posts are not permitted and do not in any way convey the views or position of Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta. We want to remind the public that any official communication from the retired president or his office will only be disseminated through our official Jubilee Office and the authorized Office of the President. verified platforms,” Uhuru said.
In his statement, the former president warned Kenyans against spreading unverified news, which he said could erode public confidence in institutions.

In other news, Gachagua criticized Jubilee saying it is the weakest link in the Union Opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.
Gachagua claimed that the Jubilee Party, under Uhuru, is blocking the efforts of the Union Opposition to remove the President Ruto.
He asked about the ability of Jubilee’s presidential candidate, Fred Matiang’i, citing his lack of a solid political base and the interference of his team by Ruto’s allies.
In a televised interview, Gachagua claimed to have warned Matiang’i that Jubilee was full of “puppets, traitors, and crooks,” and suggested he form a new party focused on Nyanza with more honesty and discipline.
