The town of Moyale has been shocked after the body of 29-year-old Liban Boru Charfi, who had been reported missing, was found three days later.

A father of two, a shepherd and livestock trader originally from Badan Rero but a resident of Odda village for the past seven years, was found crushed in the Walda area along the Moyale-Marsabit Highway on Tuesday, January 27.

Family members and friends, who had launched a frantic search, discovered his decomposing body, confirming his loved ones’ worst fears.
According to relatives, Liban was abducted on Sunday, January 25, at OMC High School in Moyale while he was on his way home.
Witnesses reported seeing armed men in plain clothes forcing him into an unmarked Probox car.
The car was later seen heading towards Marsabit town, raising doubts about the reasons for the kidnapping.
How was Liban’s body discovered?
What emerged next gave a grim picture with gruesome images showing Liban blindfolded with a blue cloth, with visible signs of torture.
His body showed multiple bruises, gunshot wounds, and blood coming from his mouth, indicating that he had endured severe violence before his death.

The shocking discovery left Liban’s family demanding immediate investigation and answers while his elderly mother, Buke Malicha, expressed deep sadness and confusion.
He hinted at the possible involvement of security officials in his son’s death, wondering why due process was not followed if he was at fault.

“I am emotionally exhausted. Why would they kill my only son? If there was any case, why didn’t they use the right way to deal with it? The role of the government is to protect the lives and property of ordinary citizens, unfortunately, this situation no longer exists,” Buke complained.
Community leaders and local residents have joined the family in demanding a thorough investigation into the incident, demanding accountability and justice for Liban.
How did the Busia businessman disappear?
Elsewhere, tension broke out in the city kiss after hundreds of businessmen and relatives stormed the local police station, demanding information about Ahmed Mohamed Ibrahim, a young businessman reportedly taken from the bus by people believed to be DCI officers.
Family members said the 25-year-old was traveling to Nairobi on Sunday evening, January 25, when the bus was stopped near Korinda, and he was ordered off with two men and two women.
The protesters, including fellow fish traders, accused the authorities of concealing information and demanded his immediate release, while police urged patience as the investigation continues.
