Highest Graded UoN Graduate Finally Lands a Job 10 Years After Leaving University

Moses Motwaro, a 36-year-old man from Nairobi, is happy that his dream and career are finally taking off after years of unemployment.

Motwaro excelled in his studies, achieving an impressive A grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), which earned him a place at the University of Nairobi.

During his time at university, he dedicated himself to his studies, and after four years, he graduated with a first class honors degree in economics.

The young man publicly asked for help to find employment. He contacted a Nairobi county official, Geoffrey Mosiria, who helped share his problem with potential employers.

TUKO.co.ke also featured her story, spreading her struggle for employment to a wider audience.

For luck Well, a few weeks later, ICS Technical College in Nairobi’s CBD contacted the 36-year-old man and offered him a job.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Motwaro thanked all those who helped him find employment after many years of hardship.

He has been employed as an internal auditor in the finance department, a role he now relishes.

“I officially started work on Monday, January 26, 2026, as an Internal Auditor at the ICS Technical College here in the CBD. I feel very good to be done with many job-seeking activities. I am very grateful to Geoffrey Mosiria, my university friend, who connected me to ICS,” he said.

The 36-year-old noted that he has joined a highly capable team at the university, which upholds high standards of professionalism and courtesy.

He also expressed his gratitude to the institution for making its transition and direction smooth and encouraging.

“I look forward to working with this highly respected institution and qualified staff, and I am committed to developing my skills and achieving my career goals while here,” he added.

Why was Moses Motwaro unemployed?

Motwaro graduated in 2016, hoping to get a job with only his papers full of excellence. However, life brought him a bitter pill to swallow.

He looked for work in and out of Nairobi, walking around with his brown envelope full of documents, but to no avail.

He even decided to do odd jobs to support himself, as returning home was not an option for him.

A few times, he got better opportunities, but they were short-term contracts, which always put him back on the streets, looking for work again.

Furthermore, the young man shared that at the time, his characteristics were more like a curse than a stepping stone, as they often hindered his career prospects.

He recalled many times when potential employers turned him down, claiming he was overqualified for his degree, leaving him confused and confused.
