1. Charlene Ruto’s real estate and hotel businesses
The 33-year-old woman is a shareholder in Matiny Ltd, a hospitality and real estate company.
Matiny Ltd has a minority stake in the Weston Hotel, located in a disputed piece of land in Lang’ata, Nairobi.
Between 2015 and 2018, the company leased 170 residential units to the National Police Service (NPS), but the contract was terminated by the NPS in 2018.
Additionally, Charlene is listed as a director of O’sere Flats, which has 98 residential apartments.
2. Charlene Ruto Farm

Like her father, Charlene has a strong interest in agriculture. His love for agriculture came from his upbringing, where he spent many holidays on the family farm.
He runs large farming operations there EldoretUasin Gishu County, where he practices mixed farming.
Its crops include mangoes, sunflowers, wheat, green peppers, beans, corn and cabbage.
He has a special interest in beekeeping and runs an apiary on his farm. He aims to motivate young people to invest in agriculture.
3. Charlene Ruto Foundation

Charlene also runs the Smachs Foundation, an organization dedicated to addressing climate change and food security.
He highlighted his organization’s efforts, including working with traditional beekeepers to upgrade their hives with modern techniques.
He also said that the organization has planted 754,000 trees as part of the government’s campaign to plant 50 billion trees.

4. Charlene Ruto’s youth network

The first daughter of the president is a great spokesperson for youth issues and leadership, and runs an organization called The Young People’s Network International (TYPNI).
According to their website, TYPNI is a youth-led NGO founded in September 2023.
The organization aims to:
“Providing an inclusive environment for young people to connect, grow, and participate fully in important issues that affect their lives and their communities.”
TYPNI, which has reached 400,000 youth, aims to empower youth through programs that spark positive change.
“We are committed to developing a culture of responsibility, creativity, empowerment and ownership.”
