Several conflicting accounts have emerged since his death. For example, there is a group led by acting ODM party leader Oburu Oginga that supports broad initiatives, while another is led by the general secretary Edwin Sifunawhich says Raila had no intention of supporting William Ruto.
A man named Oketch Salah is causing an uproar online for allegedly having a private conversation with Raila.
How close was Oketch Salah to Raila Odinga?
Oketch became popular on social media days before Raila’s death. He shared videos and photos showing him with Raila to show their closeness.
After Raila’s death, Oketch was named as Raila’s adopted son, a notion that has been rejected by Winnie Odingawho said he didn’t know.
Oketch claimed Raila assured him that he would support Ruto in the 2027 general election. He also claimed that the late politician had told him Sifuna was a miscreant in the ODM party.
Oguttu went on X to denounce this group of politicians, who are still hiding in the name of Raila.

On Wednesday, January 28, a communications strategist criticized the way politicians refer to private conversations they claim to have had with the former prime minister before his death.
He said that Raila has left and advised politicians to stand alone.
“People now stop ‘father called me, he told me’. Raila is gone. He led the political journey of this country for many years and he has demands for democracy/rights we enjoy. His name will be written in the history of this nation. People should now fight their own way. Stop holding on to father’s jacket,” he wrote.
