Nairobi – President William Ruto has officially appointed all 15 judges whose names were recommended by the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) following the completion of their interviews.

Through a gazette notice on Tuesday, January 27, Ruto formalized the addition of judges to the Court of Appeal, the second largest court in the country.
“In exercising the powers conferred by Article 166 (1)(b) of the Constitution, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Forces, appoint…to be judges of the Court of Appeal,” the notice read.
Among the judges appointed by the president are his long time friend Joseph Kipchumba Kigen Katwa, Hedwig Imbosa Ong’udi, Mathews Nduma Nderi, Linnet Mumo Ndolo, Enock Chacha Mwita, Lucy Mwihaki Njuguna, Samson Odhiambo Okongo, and Rachel Chepkoech Ngetich.

Others are Stephen Andersen Radido Okiyo, Brown Murungi Kairaria, the outgoing chairman of the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA), Ahmed Issack Hassan, Paul Lilan, Munyao Sila, Johnson Okoth Okello, and Justice Byram Ongaya.
The appointment follows a public inquiry and interview by the JSC to verify the integrity, ability, and experience of the candidates in the appellate court.
