The mother, Abigael Mutubula, said she went to the center on Thursday, January 22, when she was giving birth, where tests confirmed that the fetus died in the womb three days ago.

He claimed that despite vomiting blood as his health worsened, the doctors at the center did not give him proper medical help.

“He has been coming here since Thursday, but no one is ready to help him. We have begged them, but they keep taking him out,” claimed Esther Neema, a family member.

Citizen TV reported that Mutubula was locked out of the maternity ward, and the nurses and gate guards confronted him and refused him entry to the hospital regardless of his health.

“After the first insertion, they have been persuading me every four hours but they are not taking any action after that,” he claimed.

Following the intervention of the media, Mutubula was finally admitted to hospital, and the leadership confirmed that they are taking steps to address his condition and provide the necessary care.

“Now we have received him, and the doctors are dealing with the matter,” said Francis Olibe, a family friend.

However, noting the effects of carrying a dead child for many days, some Kenyans have expressed different opinions, while many ignore the allegations of medical negligence.

What did Kenyans say about the incident at Kitengela Hospital?

Stephen Ndhundhi

“Caesarean section is a 24-hour procedure; if it fails, then emergency CS follows. There is no need to rush the mother to an unnecessary caesarean section. According to the report, it is only 24 hours from the start of the caesarean section.”

“C-section is the way to go. She’s already managed; it’s just a matter of patience for the cervix to dilate. A C-section scar is not recommended in this case. Being a doctor is not easy.”

Hilda Samson

“The doctors know what they were doing. It’s a matter of being patient. Surgery is better than CS. Her cervix has to be opened at least from 1 to 10 centimeters, so it’s a slow process, but she will recover quickly and get pregnant again within 3 months. But CS will take a long time to heal, and it’s not safe to get pregnant again before two years.”

“The mother was helped, not medicated. There is also something called a failed induction; you people don’t understand. You can’t take a dead child to the theater when there are no symptoms.”

Wangari Suzan

“For a case like that, you go back to the hospital and ask them to take you back; vomiting blood can’t wait. You go to the police, get an OB because they refused to issue a transfer letter, and go to another hospital.”
