US-based businesswoman Naomi Ogutu has opened up about a heartbreaking visit to Migori town where she had gone to attend a funeral.

According to a post on her Facebook account, what was meant to be a courtesy visit to attend the funeral of her ex-brother-in-law, Apollo, turned into a heartbreaking dispute involving her ex-husband.

How Naomi was attacked while attending a funeral

Naomi claims that she was physically assaulted when she tried to enter the compound, which she says happened in front of mourners gathered nearby.

Despite claims that her ex-husband called others to join the conflict, she recalls that community members refused, showing respect and compassion instead.

He described the situation as shameful and sad, especially given the funeral ceremony that took place just a short distance away.

In the emotional message, Naomi paid tribute to the deceased, saying she attended the funeral with respect and left peacefully to avoid further conflicts.

“I was invited by my father-in-law to attend the funeral and buy a suit for the deceased even if I am separated from my ex-boyfriend. I would not have come if they had told me not to come,” he explained.

Naomi denied her ex-husband’s accusations

He also apologized to the community, while announcing his decision to cut ties with his in-laws, calling the episode the last step to break ties in a long and difficult chapter of his life.

“You can forget this beautiful face of mine because you will never see it again,” he said.

When reached for comment, Naomi told TUKO.co.ke that the incident surprised her because she did not expect her ex-boyfriend to act as he did.

According to her, her ex-husband once accused her of planning to commit suicide in the United States but she still visited him at his home with his current wife and she cooked for them.

“If I had such plans, why did he trust me to bring someone else to my house on Thanksgiving?” he asked.

How Naomi’s marriage broke up

Naomi’s marriage broke up shortly after she moved to the United States with her three children, contrary to the American Dream she had imagined for the first time.

He blamed the breakup on emotional turmoil, marital infidelity, and intense struggles that pushed him over the edge.
