However, one trip changed everything. Beatrice left as usual, but this time she did not return, leaving the family in great emotional pain.
“At first we were not very worried,” Vallary remembers.
“Sometimes he would stay away even for a week or two because of work. We believed he would come back as he always did.”
As the days turned into weeks, anxiety began to mount. Calls to Beatrice went unanswered, even though they were coming through. Later, the phone became completely unavailable.
Months later, the family found out that the number had been given to someone else by Safaricom.
The painful truth came to Vallary after she sent money to the number and found out that it was now owned by someone else.

Beatrice Adhiambo’s children were overwhelmed with grief
Since then, there is no information about Beatrice. No calls, no messages, no signs of relatives, friends or former colleagues.
The panicked wait turned into almost three years of uncertainty, sadness and unanswered questions.
“We have not heard anything about his whereabouts,” VAllary says in a sad voice.
“Not from family, not from friends. It’s like he disappeared completely.”
For Vallary, his brother and sister, the absence of their mother has left a permanent wound in the heart.
Without finding the truth, they live between hope and fear, holding on to the memories of a mother who once went out to work and never came back.
As the years pass, the family continues to live with the pain of not knowing if, or when, their mother will ever return home.
The unsolved case of Jennifer Mbugua
Another case that has not yet been resolved is that of Jennifer Kabura Mbugua, a Kenyan nurse living in the United States, who disappeared 11 years ago while on her way to work.
Jennifer, a registered nurse living in Fall River, Massachusetts, disappeared on May 27, 2014, in mysterious circumstances that still raise many questions. At that time he was 31 years old.
His family was shocked when he failed to show up for work, which was not at all unusual for him. The situation was aggravated by the confusing manner in which his car was later found.
More than a decade later, her disappearance remains unsolved, and her family continues to live in deep pain as they continue to wonder where Jennifer is.
