According to EMC Daily, the man was given KSh 50,000 by the local Member of Parliament, Caleb Amisi, but he claimed that the amount was small and he continued to cling to the tree.
His action, along with what was seen as a lack of gratitude, angered the local residents, who attacked him before chasing him away.
“He continued to hug the tree until two o’clock at night, when some young men came and beat him,” said the EMC Daily report.

“I will be there for parents who can’t get the amount they need but can’t say. I will be here for 120 hours,” he added.
