“When I left the hospital and returned home, life was very difficult. I did not expect this. When I returned home, some families did not want to see me. They said bitter words, telling me that if I had stayed in my marriage, I would still have my hands. I had to endure everything because I could not do anything on my own. I depended on my son a lot. If I slept for a long time, he would make me tea. He also did it during lunch.” Muthoki explained.

Muthoki said the situation affected his son a lot, who often asked why his family was rejecting him and talking badly about his mother.

He told me that if he were a girl, he would do everything for me because sometimes he wouldn’t shower for up to three days. It hurt me so much to hear my child talk like that. I wanted to encourage him and tell him that God has a reason for everything. But she continued to cry, struggling with how I would function without hands and whether she would still be able to go to school. I encouraged him and reminded him that there is a God in heaven who knows the plans he had for us.”

The death of his son

In 2021, Muthoki suspects that his painful condition started to affect his son, because he suddenly started to get sick.

His whole body began to swell, including his legs and his condition completely deteriorated. Whenever I asked him if he was in pain, he said no, but it seemed that he was not well.

Muthoki asked his father to help him take him to the hospital.

They started with the nearest station, where he was given medicine, then they were advised to take him to the same hospital where he was admitted in Muthoki, Makueni.
