For example, the former MP for Nyeri Town said the death of the former prime minister, Raila Amollo Odingahas given Ruto an extra advantage heading into the next election.
He said that without Raila, the president is no longer afraid of the United Opposition, which includes his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.
“Ruto doesn’t need a lot of votes in Mt Kenya at the moment. It’s not like it was 2022, when Mt Kenya was the one that had to happen to him. Dad is gone, so basically Ruto is now the lion, the only one in this field at the moment. I think he is in a very good place; if you look at him, he looks happier,” said Wambugu.
Wambugu pointed out that many areas that voted for Raila in 2022 are now in a state of confusion, which gives Ruto a great chance to get more votes.
“Coast, Nyanza and West are just struggling and confused. So, I think he is in a very good place. If you look at him, he looks happier,” he added.
How can Ruto get 3 million votes in Mt Kenya?
In a post on Facebook, Wambugu explained how Ruto can easily regain his number of votes in the Mt Kenya region heading into the 2027 General Election despite opposition from Gachagua.

He further said that if each member gets 10 followers, they will have reached 1.5 million followers. Wambugu also said that 20 followers each would bring a total of 3 million followers in the Mt Kenya area.
“If Ruto meets about 15 thousand people in the 10 counties of Mt Kenya, that is 150 thousand delegates,” said Wambugu.
“If each member gets 10 followers, that’s 1.5 million followers. 20 is 3 million, and so on. Whatever. Our vote will not be stolen!” he said.
