Muhoozi, who has long been seen as outspoken and sloppy by critics, the army chief’s recent remarks have once again highlighted his controversial public persona.
The military commander has frequently used social media to comment on sensitive national and regional issues, often provoking diplomatic and political opposition.
How did Muhoozi invite attacks against him online?
In his recent remarks, he called for the assassination of opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, and members of his National Unity Platform (NUP) party in the period after the 2026 General Election.
Muhoozi, who is also President Yoweri Museveni’s son, returned to X with a series of violent remarks days after Museveni was declared the winner of a highly contested referendum.
His posts, which quickly went viral, drew criticism from users who described them as reckless, dangerous and inappropriate for a senior military officer.
In one of the most controversial posts, Muhoozi appeared to brag about deaths related to security operations.
“Personally, I am ashamed of our record. 22 people killed in one week is very few. I promise to do better,” the young Museveni wrote.
In others, Muhoozi directly targeted Bobi Wine and NUP supporters, vowing to destroy them and only Museveni’s intervention will save them.
“We will kill all the NUP so-called ‘Foot Soldiers’ as soon as they appear. Until the Elder says otherwise. We have killed 22 NUP terrorists since last week. I pray that the 23rd will be Kabobi.”
He also referred to Bobi Wine using insulting and insulting language, while in another post, he mocked the opposition leader.
“Beating a MONKEY is expected. That guy’s nose is too big to be human. I’ll be happy to smash this idiot to pieces,” he added.
Those words came shortly after Museveni was declared the winner with 7,946,772 votes against Bobi Wine’s 2,741,238 votes.
Bobi Wine, Museveni’s closest opponent in the race, has protested the conduct of the election and claimed that the security forces were following him.
How social media users spoke about Muhoozi’s remarks
Online reactions to Muhoozi’s posts were swift and harsh, with many calling the army chief to order for his latest remarks.
Others warned of wider implications, saying that celebrating the killings and labeling opponents as terrorists amounts to criminal incitement that puts civilians at risk.
@Mbithe_Mulinge:
“This is one of the most disappointing and poorly thought out comments I have come across on this forum.”
@paulkkimeli:
“In general, with all due respect, no military leader should brag about taking lives or wishing death on political opponents. Every life in Uganda matters. Justice is in court, not in public threats. Uganda—and the region—deserves leaders who protect citizens and uphold the rule of law, not sow fear. Pray for peace instead.”
@Politics_analys:
“This is a false confession. Celebrating murder and publicly calling for the death of another person is not governance but criminal incitement. Calling political opponents terrorists to justify lethal force is a common tactic of authoritarian regimes. It undermines the rule of law and puts citizens in grave danger. If any of these allegations are true, they need an immediate and independent investigation. If they are false, they are reckless threats that endanger lives. No country can call itself a republic when the authorities speak like this. Accountability is not optional.”
@josifuncia:
“And do you think our continent can succeed with such people? We are cursed”
