Citizen TV reported that Joel Kipyegon Kosgei was killed by his son, Hillary Yegon, aged 25, after a heated argument over a land dispute.
How a Bomet man killed his 56-year-old father
County Police Commander BometEdward Imbwaga, confirmed the sad incident and said that an investigation has already been initiated.
According to Imbwaga, Yegon argued with his father about the land shortly before he took a kitchen knife and hacked him.
A preliminary police investigation revealed that the victim died of massive bleeding.
In retaliation, the police chief said that the people turned on the suspect and beat him badly.
He suffered serious injuries and lost consciousness before being rushed to Kapkatet Hospital for emergency treatment.
Imbwaga said the police found a murder weapon with blood stains, and the body of the deceased was taken to the mortuary of Kapkatet Hospital while the investigation continues.

In another related incident, a family in Namanjalala area, Kapomboi ward, Trans Nzoia county, was thrown into mourning after a son allegedly killed his biological father in an incident linked to a long-running land dispute.
Brian Masinde, aged 29, allegedly killed his 65-year-old father, Paul Karera, on the night of October 28 after a dispute.
According to the deceased’s daughter, Esther Nafula, the dispute arose because Brian prevented her father from feeding the cows on his land which had a vegetable garden.

He added that Brian had been violent and showed deviant behavior, a situation that had caused frequent conflicts with his father since the previous year.
An elder of the local village, Rose Wamalwa, who arrived at the scene that night, said the deceased was beaten several times with a blunt instrument until he died.
A Murang’a man kills his father after being denied dinner
In a separate incident, a man was arrested at the Kagumo-ini Police Station after he confessed to killing his father in May 2024.
The man voluntarily surrendered at the police station and confessed to the crime.
It is alleged that the 35-year-old man got angry after his father denied him dinner, which made him attack his father with a hammer.
The father was found dead lying in a pool of blood in their compound after he died from his injuries.
Police officers who arrived at the scene took the body of the deceased to the mortuary while the investigation continued.
The suspect was brought to Kangema court, Murang’a county, to face charges of murder.
