Victims of Police Brutality Nandi Hills Narrate What They Found, Alleging Police Robbed Them

  • Twelve youths in Nandi Hills have lodged an official complaint after being brutally assaulted by police officers inside a swimming pool hall

The youths who were attacked by the police in Nandi Hills have come forward to participate in the incident at the hands of criminal officers.

About 12 young people were seen being beaten by eight police officers who invaded the swimming pool hall in Nandi Hills last Saturday, January 10.

Accompanied by lawyers, the victims reported to the East Nandi Sub-County Police Headquarters to lodge their official complaint.

Gideon Keter, one of the men, said he was injured in the back.

He had returned from work and was seen in the hall resting.

“I was leaving work and I went to the swimming pool to quench my thirst. Two officers who were hiding their faces with masks entered first. I witnessed 17 police officers. They ordered us to lie down, and after that they bit us badly. They stepped on my chest, and injured my back,” Keter said.

“They beat me with clubs and took my M-kopa phone and KSh 6,000,” he added.

On his part, Kennedy Kipkorir shared that he was injured in the leg and hand.

He claimed that he was robbed of KSh 2,000 and his phone was damaged.

“After entering the swimming pool hall, the officers ordered us to lie down. They asked me for my ID and asked me to leave. As I was leaving, they hit me on the right elbow with pull sticks, and one of them slapped me. They broke the screen of my phone, and took my money of KSh 2,000,” Kipkorir said.
