This move follows a few days after the party held its first major public consultation meeting since the death of its founder, the former prime minister. Raila Odinga.
What to expect from ODM’s “Linda Ground” tour?
ODM’s recent move marks the efforts of the Orange party to strengthen its base which has been divided after the death of Raila and to shape the future direction of the party.
According to the party poster and official communication published on Friday, January 16, “ODM Linda Ground County Tours” will start on Saturday, January 17, Malaba, County kiss.
The campaign vehicle led by Oburu will then proceed to Kakamega Town, Kakamega County on Sunday, January 18.
“It will be decorated by the leader of the party Senator Oburu Oginga,” the poster highlighted.
The Western Kenya tours put Oburu at the center of ODM’s expansion after Raila’s death, as the party strives to reconnect with supporters and strengthen its presence in key areas that have traditionally been front lines for the party.
With the 2027 general election around the corner, ODM is also striving to listen to the concerns of local citizens, rebuild the party’s structure, and maintain its relevance amid the changing politics.

How the Kamukunji meeting shaped the future of ODM
The regional visit follows the launch of “Operation Linda Ground” which took place on Wednesday, January 14, at the Kamukunji Stadium, between the Kibra Constituency, Nairobi.
The Kamukunji meeting was ODM’s first big meeting since Raila’s death and was used as a forum for consultation rather than a regular political meeting.
Party supporters and leaders used the meeting to openly discuss the future of ODM and the direction of national politics in the post-Raila era.
Top leaders of the party, including the Governor of Homa Bay Gladys Wangaattended the launch, showing the importance of this initiative within the leadership ranks of ODM.
During the meeting, Oburu urged members of the party to unite ahead of the 2027 elections, warning that divisions would harm the position of the party.

He pointed out that speaking with one voice will enable them to negotiate to form a coalition from a position of strength.
