Nelson Omeno allegedly attacked his daughter, Charlene Nyangweso, on the night of Wednesday, December 31, before leaving her body at the Mother Lucy Kibaki Hospital and running away.
The incident is said to have happened at Omeno’s home in Dandora, where the boy lived with his father and stepmother.

What caused the bad beating of Charlene Nyangweso?
Charlene’s biological mother, Pamela Sande, revealed that she was married to Omeno for 14 years before their marriage ended and she left. After the separation, Charlene was placed under the custody of her father.
On Friday, December 26, Charlene went to visit Sande and stayed with him until Wednesday, December 31, when Omeno reportedly came to pick her up following an argument.
What happened after the boy returned to his father’s house has left the family heartbroken and the community in shock.
According to earlier reports, Omeno began beating the girl as punishment for visiting her mother, a beating that allegedly escalated to death.
Sande recalled her last conversation with her daughter, revealing that Charlene admitted to being beaten by her father.
“When I called, it was the stepmother who answered the phone. Then the child told me that it was his father who called him. He said, “Mother, father has called me, but please come and pick me up tomorrow morning.”, Sande said, the call that is now bothering him.
How did Omeno deal with the incident of beating Charlene?
That night, following the beating, Charlene is reported to have fainted and instead of seeking immediate help, Omeno is accused of taking the unconscious girl to Mother Lucy Hospital, and dumping her body there.
The grieving mother said she was called to the hospital under alarming circumstances by Omeno, who knew their daughter’s condition was in danger.
Sande recounted that Omeno made sure he got to the hospital before dark, so he wouldn’t be seen again.
“The father of the child called me on the first day, around seven o’clock at night, and told me to come. He said we should meet at Mother Lucy Hospital because the child was in a bad condition, and that even the doctors said the condition was bad. I rushed there.
When I got to Mama Lucy, we were still talking and she was still telling me we would meet. But as soon as I got there, his phone got cut off. Until today, his phone call has never been answered,” Sande explained.
What do the results of the autopsy show about Charlene’s death?
An important witness in the case, Omeno’s current wife, Sheila Odhiambo, has spoken, insisting that the incident was not intentional.
“I can’t say that it was something done on purpose. It was a case of someone disciplining a child and, unfortunately, it went wrong. It was an accident, not something that anyone intended,” said Sheila.

Despite Sheila’s claims, troubling questions have emerged, deepening the family’s pain and questions about what happened when Omeno ‘punished’ Charlene.
When Sande saw her daughter’s body for the first time in the morgue, she noticed injuries that went beyond a beating, revealing what appeared to be torture.
An autopsy report confirmed that Charlene died of blunt force trauma to the head, chest, and other parts of the body, the results confirming that the attack was fatal.
“His head was swollen on the back, and there was blood here on his forehead between the eyes. His hands were swollen, and it looked like he was tied with a rope, there were marks on his wrists. Even on his legs, it looked like he was tied with a rope. One side was untied, but the rope was still left on the other side,” Sanded recounted painfully.
Why did Bomet’s mother beat her children?
In another tragic incident, a nine-year-old girl from Taboino village in Konoin died following an alleged assault by her mother, while her 13-year-old brother sustained serious injuries.
Reports indicated that the children had been accused of taking bananas from a neighboring garden. According to police, 34-year-old Joan Chepkemoi Rono allegedly beat them with a wooden stick, leaving the girl with severe facial swelling and bleeding, and her brother with multiple injuries.
The mother, who accompanied the children to the hospital, was arrested.
