The 28-year-old pharmacist died following injuries sustained in an accident on the Road Raila Odinga Sunday evening, January 11.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Bill’s close friend and partner, Kennedy Sankara, said that according to the official autopsy report, it is said that Bill fell off a motorcycle, a narrative he strongly disputes.
How did Bill Kaunda die?
According to Sankara, Bill was allegedly hit by a driver driving a white Toyota Prado with registration number KDU 122Y.

He told TUKO.co.ke that the car, registered to Mr. Abdi Kafar Abdi Sheikh, was handed over to the traffic police before the driver was arrested at the Lang’ata Police Station.
“We know the person who hit him. According to witnesses, he was walking on the footpath. The driver tried to flee the scene of the accident. Fortunately, he was arrested by officers from the nearby Administrative Police Station near Riara, Raila Odinga Road,” Sankara said.
However, the driver was later released on cash bail.
Police cited the lack of a warrant to stop the vehicle or the suspect, saying that the vehicle inspection had been completed, the suspect had recorded a statement, and was therefore free to leave.
Following the accident, Bill was rushed to the Kenyatta National Hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He later died from his injuries the next morning.
“He had bled profusely and needed a blood transfusion. When we heard about the incident, we were motivated to get blood. The next day (Monday), before we even reached the police station to follow up on the matter, Bill died at about 3:30 in the morning,” Sankara said.

Sankara praised Bill as a brother and friend, describing him as a people person who was compassionate, empathetic, and reliable.
The current president of MKUSA, Evans Kiprono, described Bill’s death as a great loss not only to his family and friends but also to the student leadership and the entire Mount Kenya University community.
“Bill served with dedication, humility, and an incredible dedication to the welfare of students. He was a leader who listened, a voice for the voiceless, and a unifier among comrades,” Kiprono said in a statement.
According to Kiprono, Bill was initially recognized as the best president the institution has ever had, due to the respect he earned through principled and dedicated service.
