A family is heartbroken following the tragic death of their 11-year-old daughter, Serahfina Godian John.

The girl died a day after saying goodbye to her parents with great love during the New Year celebrations.
Her mother, Neema Meshack, painfully narrated the last days of her daughter and the activities she was doing.
Was Serahfina Godian sick?
Serahfina was healthy and busy, so when her mother remembers the festive season, everything she did started to make sense after her sudden death.
“My daughter was always healthy and full of life. I remember at the end of December 2025, she was lying in bed and started a conversation with me about traveling abroad. She was not sick, and she told me twice that we would move from Tanzania,” said the bereaved mother.
Neema said her daughter never explained why she wanted them to leave, so she thought the conversation was just a joke.
Why did Serahfina say goodbye to her parents?
On January 1, 2026, Neema said the family was together celebrating the New Year when their daughter made another surprising statement.
He remembered that Serahfina had felt bad that morning, but she suddenly got a lot of energy in the afternoon and started dancing.
“He told us he was going home while laughing. He said he was going to his father. When I asked him where he was at that time because we were all at home, he replied, ‘Home is a place of peace, home is a place of great happiness,’ and then he said goodbye to us with a smile,” said Neema.
The grief-stricken mother recalled the surprise and fear that struck her and her husband.
However, they ignored those statements thinking that their daughter was just joking.

How did Serahfina Godian die?
Serahfina, who was not sick, suddenly began to feel inexplicable pain in her body.
His parents rushed him to the hospital where he was treated and allowed to return home to recover. Sadly, his condition worsened the next day.
Neema said they took him back to the hospital where the doctors did several tests but did not find any problem. Finally they did a CT scan which revealed that he was suffering from severe pneumonia.
“My daughter did not show any symptoms of pneumonia, she did not cough, nothing. There were small symptoms in December, but I ignored them. Serahfina was preparing us for her departure, but we did not see it. God gave me, and God took her,” he said.
Although she admits that her daughter is now in God’s hands, Neema said that the death has hurt and broken her heart.
“I don’t have much to say. I have questions, but what I know is that God is in this,” he said.
The 11-year-old girl was buried at her family’s residence in Otumotu village, Arusha, Tanzania.
What happened to Nick Wambugu?
In other sad news, TUKO.co.ke reported that Nick Wambugu, a BBC videographer associated with the documentary Blood Parliamentdied on January 7.
Wambugu died on the day he was expected to appear in court following allegations that he was involved in the production of the document.
According to reports, the photographer, who had denied the charges, died of a rare blood disorder.
