Ahead of the much-anticipated 2027 governorship race, Kagure met with his long-time political strategist, Mzee Kamande.

Is Johnson Sakaja incompetent?

The leader of the Kenya Patriots Party revealed that Kamande was his trusted primary organizer who identifies himself with his vision for Nairobi county.

“Where there are elders there is wisdom and nothing is ruined. I had the honor of benefiting from the wisdom of Mzee Kamande, a long-time political strategist and grassroots organizer who identifies with our vision for a Nairobi that works for all,” Kagure said.

His remarks come amid growing discontent among city residents over deteriorating services and infrastructure, as well as uncertainty at City Hall as the political landscape of 2027 begins to unfold.

Recently, the city tycoon expressed his concern about the increasing insecurity in the capital. He said that the county cannot achieve any progress when crime is common.

In his statement, Kagure challenged the Sakaja administration not to rely only on the operation carried out by the police.

The Nairobi gubernatorial candidate urged the Sakaja administration to urgently improve street lights in the city center to fight crime in the back streets.

How Sakaja’s government was criticized about the South C disaster

Recently, Sakaja’s administration was heavily criticized after a building collapsed in South C, killing two people.

Speaking exclusively to TUKO.co.ke, MCA for South C Abass said all county officials in the physical planning department who were involved in the approval of the building should be held accountable.

He said that negligence and failure of management by the county urban planning department may have contributed to the disaster.

Khalif said the department neglected to supervise and monitor construction, conduct regular inspections, and enforce building regulations.

Lang’ata Member of Parliament Felix Oduor, popularly known as Jalang’o, also demanded that action be taken against City Hall officials in the planning department.

The ODM MP demanded a thorough investigation into the collapse of the building to determine responsibility.

He also called for an immediate suspension of construction in South C and Nairobi West to verify building safety standards and approval procedures.
