Despite his good performance in his final high school exam, Aggrey Munandi has no hope of joining university anytime soon.
What is Aggrey Munandi doing?
Even after scoring an A in the 2025 KCSE exam, the 18-year-old’s educational journey is in danger of stalling due to several challenges.
The young man turned his attention to working in the liner area to increase his mother’s income and help his family who were suffering from poverty.
“After finishing the fourth form, I had nothing else that I could do except to help my mother so that together we could handle some of the needs we have at home, especially school fees for my siblings, food, and house rent,” he shared.
How did Munandi face the challenges at Dandora High School?
These are the same challenges that Munandi faced in his journey to professional success, but they never wavered his determination to do well and change the fortunes of his family.
The young man recounted how he survived school despite financial difficulties, praising his principal for intervening to help him.
“Since I joined Dandora High School and did well, the school principal decided to pay all my school fees. I am very grateful to him. He also provided revision books that we did not get before, and they helped us revise various subjects, especially science, which were very difficult,” he said.
Although he was happy with his performance, Munandi is still unsure about his future due to the many challenges his family continues to face.
Aggrey Munandi’s mother, Jackline, opens up
His priority is to ensure that his siblings get an education, which he firmly believes is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty.
“If anyone can help me, I can still continue my work. With God’s will, I believe I can succeed and finally be in a position to help my family and society,” said Munandi, who currently works in a company that manufactures passenger cars.
Munandi works alongside her mother, Jackline Kageha, in the area as they struggle together to make ends meet. Her mother could not hide her feelings when she asked for help.
“I am very happy and I thank God, praying that he continues to protect me and my children. What I am asking for is help for my son so that his dream can come true, and one day he can help me and his siblings,” he prayed.
