The governor’s business was completely destroyed on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, January 14, when tractors and bulldozers entered to demolish buildings and vehicles in front of police officers.
A few hours after the incident, the grieving governor, accompanied by his team of lawyers, priests and supporters, inspected the scene.
What did Wamatangi say about the demolished business?
In his speech, the county leader seemed very sad as he complained about the losses he and his employees suffered, saying that there was not even a single notice from the relevant authorities.
He revealed that he started working in the area in 1994 as a mandazi seller.
“Everything that happened today is because of politics, and I wonder, ‘When will this political persecution aimed at Wamatangi end?’
I have employed many people here, and there are many business owners here. I want to say sorry. I believe in God; they have done this but they have not cut off my hands or affected my mind. The loss I got today after 40 years of hard work, I leave it to God.
There was a five day warning, but I just told those who work here to be careful. I didn’t come here because I didn’t know if I was the target. I have suffered a lot like a fatherless child. I believe God will take care of everything,” he said while showing the bullets found in the destruction area.
The demolition took place despite court orders prohibiting any attempt against his property.
He recalled frequent court appearances in what he described as efforts to prevent him from providing services to county residents.
Will Kimani Wamatangi leave politics?
The governor who is facing challenges claimed that the measures were aimed at endangering his life.

Was a shot fired in the residence of Kimani Wamatangi?
Meanwhile, in December 2025, Wamatangi expressed his concern after a bullet penetrated the roof of his neighbor in Kabete and fell into the children’s room, just a few meters away from his home.
The shots, allegedly fired from a distance of 100 meters, are said to have come from a heavy machine gun, according to experts.
He complained directly to the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, saying that the local security agencies were dragging their feet, did not respond properly and were not open about the progress of the investigation, despite the seriousness of the incident.
