In a calm response, he clarified that the widely circulated information claiming that he is asking for food, financial support and school fees were fabricated and do not reflect his current situation.
Is Jesus of Tongaren bankrupt?
The preacher from Bungoma told TUKO.co.ke that since he became nationally known, bloggers have been using his name to trick uninformed Kenyans into donating money.
This comes after reports claimed that he did not celebrate Christmas and that his family was at risk of starvation.
He insisted that he and his family are not in a bad situation as it is being said online, adding that he has received many calls from fans who were worried about his condition.
“Those are the people who are trying to use my name to benefit themselves financially. I am fine and I continue to preach the word of God, so they invite their own damnation,” he said.
Jesus’ message of Tongaren to the public
Frequent visitors to his home echoed that statement, saying that although he lived a humble life, there was no sign of an emergency or an urgent request for help.
Many expressed concern that false information continues to spread about him without proof.
Jesus of Tongaren urged the public to ignore misleading claims and advised content creators to be responsible when sharing information about him or his ministry.
He said he continues to focus on his spiritual work and is determined to maintain peace in his family and community.

Who is Jesus of Tongaren?
Jesus of Tongaren, whose real name is Eliud Wekes, became famous after he claimed to be the Messiah and even had 12 disciples like Jesus of the Bible.
The allegations led to his arrest and charges of inciting extremism, money laundering, possession or use of the proceeds of crime, and running an illegal community.
He was also accused of writing or uttering words intended to hurt religious feelings, contrary to Article 138 of the Penal Code.
However, there were fears that the preacher was facing financial challenges despite all the authority he claims to have, after he was seen asking for a bursary to educate his children.
