Githunguri Member of Parliament, Gathoni Wamuchomba, claimed that Gachagua was using threats to force him to join the DCP before the 2027 General Election.
However, speaking on the Kameme FM radio station on Monday, January 12, the former deputy president dismissed the claims, calling them false.
Gachagua said that his role is to promote the DCP only, and that it is the voters of Wamuchomba who want him to join the party to ensure he is re-elected.

According to Gachagua, it will be difficult for anyone in Mount Kenya to be elected in 2027 if he is not a member of the DCP.
“Who is forcing him? It is the voters. If they tell him that without DCP he is finished, what should I do? My role is to sell DCP; I do not force him to join us. I say, if you want to be elected, join DCP. If you are not in DCP, you will not be elected. Now who is forcing him? Who is threatening him?”” wondered Gachagua.
The DCP leader explained that his job is to set the political direction only, and he is not the one to decide whether Kenyans will agree with him or not.
“My role is to set the direction; whether people will agree with me or not, it is not up to me to decide. I have not told anyone to join another party; I have told people to join DCP. If the local people say yes, join DCP, that is not me,” he said.

He promised to remain in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party of the President William Ruto until the year 2027.
