On Monday, January 12, Oburu convened a meeting of the Central Management Committee (CMC) in Kilifi as tension within the party continued to emerge.
Why did Oburu Oginga call the ODM Kilifi meeting?
“I convened a meeting of the Central Management Committee of ODM Vipingo, Kilifi, in my capacity as a Party Leader, for consultation and collaboration on emerging political and national issues,” Oburu said on Facebook.
The Siaya senator noted that the Orange party is strong in internal consultations and will continue to listen to the opinions of all its members.
“As the Orange Democratic Movement, we remain strong in internal consultation, unity of purpose, and grassroots leadership. We continue to listen to our members and the people of Kenya as we shape the direction of the Party together in the coming period,” he added.
The Governor of Mombasa County, Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, who is also the Deputy Leader of ODM, has shared photos of various leaders arriving at the meeting, which is scheduled to discuss important political and national issues.
In his statement, Nassir emphasized ODM’s commitment to unity, internal consultation, and grassroots leadership, noting the importance of listening to party members and Kenyans as the party shapes its future direction.
“I joined my fellow members of the Central Management Committee of ODM Vipingo, Kilifi, under the leadership of Dr. Oburu Oginga, for open and forward-looking discussions on emerging political and national issues. As Orange Democratic Movement, we continue to strengthen in internal consultation, unity of purpose, and grassroots leadership as we listen to our members and the people of Kenya while creating the direction of the Party in the coming period,” said Nasir.
