Education Minister Julius Ogamba released the highly anticipated results at Chebisaas High School there Eldoret on Friday, January 9.

In the 2025 KCSE examinations, the number of candidates who obtained Grade A (open) increased to 1,932, from 1,693 the previous year.

National schools led the way for the best performers, achieving 1,526 of these top scores.

Overall, 270,715 candidates achieved an average grade of C+ or higher, qualifying for university and representing approximately 27% of all participants.

Day schools, especially those in small counties, showed great success and surpassed county schools in the number of university admissions.

Did Atwoli give the guy a Prado for passing KCSE?

Amid mixed feelings about the result, a photo that went viral online showed Atwoli with a young man.

The photo showed the long-time COTU boss outside a house with green leaves.

Atwoli wore a blue striped suit and greeted the young man.

The young man held the gift box in his other hand.

Atwoli held the car keys, and behind them was a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.

The SUV had a red ribbon, indicating it was a gift.

The base price of the Prado according to local car catalogs is around KSh 5 million, but it can quadruple depending on the year of manufacture and trim level.

“Atwoli gifted his nephew a Land Cruiser Prado for his exemplary performance in KCSE,” a post said.

Another publication claimed that the boy was Atwoli’s son.

The post prompted a COTU boss to respond.

He shared the photo with the word “FAKE” written on it, indicating that the claims were not true.

However, he did not provide details about when the photo was captured or whether it was altered.

Comedian JB Masanduku scored three consecutive A grades in science at Starehe Boys.
