On Friday, January 9, more than 996,000 candidates who sat for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations will receive their results.
This ends days of worry after what many parents and candidates described as unexpected delays.
Cabinet Minister for Education (CS) Julius Ogamba dismissed concerns about the delay, saying that the announcement would be made according to the ministry’s normal schedule.
The results will be released today after the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) confirmed that the revision process was completed by mid-December 2025.
The Ministry and KNEC have already informed the President William Ruto about the results.
To administer the exams in 2025, KNEC sent 10,765 station managers, 12,126 supervisors, 54,782 supervisors, 22,247 security officers, and 2,692 drivers. 2. The Standard
The unorganized placement of Senior Secondary School (SSS) students who are supposed to report to school on Monday, January 12, has caused confusion, fear, and uncertainty among parents and schools.
Such random placement, according to some education experts, is similar to using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to solve a problem without inputting proper instructions.
After the Ministry of Education opened the second placement assessment window, anxious parents have been flocking to secondary schools in urban and rural areas in a last-ditch attempt to secure a place for their children.
Much dissatisfaction with the placement process has been revealed by the crowd, especially among low-income families who claim they were not informed when important choices were being made.

The conflicts within the ODM party have taken a new shape after a group of members of the party met with one of the party’s trustees on Thursday, January 8, and demanded new elections.
A group of parliamentarians led by secretary general Edwin Sifuna visited former attorney general Amos Wako in a hotel in Nairobi a few days after a bad disagreement threatened to blow up the party.
ODM national treasurer Ken Bosire and party leader Oburu Oginga are among the other sponsors.
Governor James Orengo (Siaya), Ruth Odinga (MP for Kisumu), Babu Owino (East Embakasi), John Akiko (South Turkana), and the minority leader of the National Assembly Millie Odhiambo (Suba North) were among the leaders in the Wako meeting.
Senators-designate Catherine Mumma and Crystal Asige, former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo, and Nairobi county majority leader Peter Imwatok were among the other leaders in attendance.

Tawe Movement leader George Natembeya has more influence than experienced politicians from Western Kenya.
Natembeya is supported by one out of two Luhya community members in the five national counties of Mulembe.
At home, the governor of Trans Nzoia, who is also the deputy leader of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), has the strong support of seven out of ten citizens (70%).
The Infotrak poll revealed that the top five politicians in the Western region are Natembeya, Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi, Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, and Minister of Cooperatives Wycliffe Oparanya.
5. Nation Today
Even before any formal agreement with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party is reached, some ODM leaders have claimed that President William Ruto is raiding its ranks to form 2027 regional campaign teams.
This creates a new crisis in the wider administration.
The leaders led by ODM deputy leader Godfrey Osotsi, claimed that ODM MPs are being secretly included in regional campaign teams as part of the President’s early efforts to be re-elected in 2027.
According to Osotsi, Ruto is making a systematic attempt to weaken the basic organs of the ODM party in order to use them again for the 2027 new election campaign.
