KCSE 2025: Minister Julius Ogamba Announces the Results of 996,000 Candidates

This development has marked a major step for one of the largest groups in the history of Kenya’s national assessments.

The results were revealed on Friday, January 9, at the AIC Chebisaas School there EldoretUasin Gishu county, in a ceremony attended by officials and education stakeholders.

A total of 993,226 candidates took the exams, which started on October 21, 2025, and ended on November 14, 2025.

Of that number, 492,012 were men, while 504,214 were women. 26,391 candidates were aged 16 and under.

Before the announcement to the public, Ogamba informed the President William Ruto about the results during a meeting at the White House on Wednesday, January 7.

This round of exams is particularly notable as it marks one of the last groups tested under the long-standing 8-4-4 education system, before Kenya’s full transition to Competency-Based Education (CBE).

KNEC Chief Executive Officer David Njengare emphasized that 418 cases of examination irregularities were reported during the 2025 KCSE examinations, down from 614 cases recorded in 2024, showing a steady improvement in examination integrity.

2. Using SMS method to check KCSE result 2025

To check KCSE result through Short Message Service (SMS), students need to send their index number to the code 20076.

In a notice published on X, a leading telecommunications company Safaricom announced that each sms will cost Ksh 25.

How many candidates scored C+ and above in KCSE 2025?

According to the results, 270,715 candidates (27.81%) scored C+ and above, qualifying for direct entry to university.

1,932 candidates came directly from A, while 72,000 of them came from day schools.

Female candidates performed better than their male counterparts in subjects such as English, Kiswahili, Kenyan Sign Language, Home Science and Arts and Design.
